Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is seeking a Geography Teacher on a permanent basis for an independent day school in Colchester. You will plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons, support pupils in developing geographical knowledge and assess progress within the Senior School Humanities team.

The role requires QTS, strong KS3/KS4 geography knowledge, excellent classroom management and adaptability. Salary ranges £32,000–£45,000 with CPD opportunities and a supportive working environment.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a highly regarded independent day school based in Colchester, which is looking to appoint a Geography Teacher. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for pupils aged 4-16, with a strong commitment to academic achievement, personal development and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.

The school is looking to take on an enthusiastic Geography Teacher on a permanent basis from November 2026, working within the Senior School Humanities department. The successful Geography Teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons, support pupils in developing their geographical knowledge and understanding, assess student progress and work closely with the wider Humanities team to maintain high standards of education.

The successful Geography Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS or a relevant teaching qualification
• Strong subject knowledge of Geography across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4
• Experience planning and delivering engaging Geography lessons within a secondary school
• Excellent classroom management and strong communication skills
• The ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with different learning abilities
• A positive, enthusiastic and committed approach to teaching, with a passion for supporting pupil achievement
