Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Geography Teacher for a maternity cover position in Monmouthshire, South Wales. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, within a supportive secondary school and the Humanities department, delivering Geography across varying abilities.

You will plan lessons, assess progress, and adapt teaching to support learners while aligning with the Curriculum for Wales. A DBS with Update Service is preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) required.
• Experience teaching Geography at secondary level including placements.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Good understanding of the Curriculum for Wales.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons to pupils of varying abilities.
• Develop pupils' knowledge of physical and human geography.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment through effective management.
• Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with additional learning needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the Humanities department and wider school team.
• Support the delivery and development of the Curriculum for Wales.
