Qualifications

  • Degree in Geology or Environmental Science required; postgraduate preferred.
  • Experience with UK multi-discipline consultancy is essential.

Responsibilities

Job description

My client is a multi-discipline Property and Construction Consultancy, who help their clients create better, more sustainable places for people to live, learn, and work.


The team in Winchester are seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to work on new and existing projects in southern England, mainly comprising Phase 1 and Phase 2 Site Investigations. The position is based within the Geo-Environmental Consultancy Department.


The Role

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of different projects mostly comprising the redevelopment of brownfield sites. You will have the opportunity to become a key member of the team, working with the senior staff on some exciting projects.


Role and Responsibilities
  1. Planning, execution, and reporting of Phase 1 and Phase 2 Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical site investigations
  2. Logging soil and rock samples
  3. Scheduling laboratory testing
  4. Site monitoring - groundwater, surface water, and ground-gas
  5. Conducting soil and groundwater risk assessments
  6. Liaising with Clients and Regulators
  7. Production of Remediation Method Statements, supervision of remediation works, and production of Validation Reports

Experience and Skills Required
  1. Relevant degree in Geology or Environmental Science - postgraduate degree desirable
  2. Experience working for a UK multi-discipline consultancy
  3. Excellent communication and report writing skills
  4. Membership of a professional organisation such as the Geological Society or CIWEM, ideally working towards Chartered Status
  5. Experience of quantitative human health, groundwater, and ground-gas risk assessments
  6. Geotechnical knowledge, logging soils and rocks, etc.
  7. Full driving licence
