Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide design and engineering support for new ports & terminal developments
- Provide engineering and operational support and assistance to all operational areas
- Be the designated Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for designated engineering and operational activities
- Implement engineering and operational standards, assisting in continuous improvement of all areas
- Monitor and review maintenance standards and use of CMMS
- Support commercial enquiries with feasibility studies and 3D conceptual models
- Build Opex and Capex models for potential port projects
- Specification and procurement of materials handling machinery and associated equipment
- Monitor and support the maintenance and technical aspects of existing terminal operations
- Carry out field visits and evaluate engineering, operations, and project progress/activities
- Conduct equipment inspections and write condition reports
- Evaluate the standards and practices of maintenance activities
- Identify equipment trends and provide solutions to improve performance and/or reliability
- Perform other duties as appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the position
Skills & Experience
- Time-served apprenticeship in Civil, Electrical/Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering, with associated academic qualifications, minimum of ONC, or qualified project or operations manager with significant port experience and knowledge
- Knowledge of port engineering and/or operations
- Interpretation and understanding of engineering drawings (electrical, hydraulic, structural)
- Self-motivated and able to work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
- Willingness to travel and work internationally, demonstrating cultural sensitivity
- Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills, with a systematic approach to complex problems
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and IT applications including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a team-oriented attitude
- Proficient in 3D modeling software (Inventor, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or similar)
- Organized, accurate, with high attention to detail
- Proactive problem solver, capable of multitasking, managing workloads, and prioritizing
- Willing to attend relevant training courses to develop knowledge and skills
- Interest in shipping, ports, and terminal industries, with awareness of current global affairs
- Civil, Electrical/Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering degree
- Professional registration such as MIMechE, MIET, MIEEE, or equivalent
