Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a well-established environmental and ground engineering consultancy in Durham. The role balances field investigations with office-based reporting, offering exposure from initial investigation through remediation and validation of projects.

The successful candidate will contribute to Phase 1/2 desk studies, risk assessments, remediation strategies and validation reports, supporting the full project lifecycle in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• Experience in a geo-environmental, contaminated land, or ground investigation role.
• Comfortable working on site and contributing to technical reporting.
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail for reporting deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intrusive ground investigations, including boreholes and trial pits to determine ground conditions.
• Recover samples for laboratory geotechnical testing and ground contamination screening.
• Undertaking soakaway testing
• Producing Phase 1 Desk Top Studies
• Creating Coal Mining Risk Assessments
• Writing Phase 2 Ground Investigation Reports, including ground contamination risk assessments
• Preparing Remediation Strategies
• Compiling Validation Reports
• Drawing up and presenting site data, such as borehole and trial pit logs
• Scheduling laboratory testing of recovered samples

This permanent role offers a balanced mix of site-based investigations and office-based reporting, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle from investigation through to remediation and validation.
