Job Description:

We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Contaminated Land / Environmental Consultant / Hydrogeologist to join our Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice in Birmingham.

AtkinsRéalis is a leading engineering and design consultancy with expertise in responding to challenging infrastructure projects. Our Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice is renowned for its multidisciplinary approach, award-winning projects, and skilled team, including Brownfield Briefing award winners.

The successful candidate will be integral to our team, working on major UK and international infrastructure projects, including nuclear new-build. Our specialists work on land contamination, hydrogeology, and brownfield redevelopment, providing innovative solutions across various markets such as Cities, Transportation, and Energy Infrastructure, in the UK and globally.

Responsibilities:
  • Organize, assess, and manage desk-based information for Phase 1 Desk Studies, leading digital initiatives.
  • Manage digital data, develop conceptual site models, and conduct risk assessments for human health and water environments.
  • Prepare and deliver factual and interpretative reports.
  • Design and oversee Phase 2 site investigations, including supervision of site work and contractor management.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance, including site investigation planning and management.
  • Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments and maintain professional development.
  • Manage personal workload, supporting project delivery within scope, budget, and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Higher education qualification in geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, or environmental science.
  • Understanding of land contamination and brownfield issues, industry standards, and codes of practice.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site work across the UK.
  • Experience with geospatial data and GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
Desirable:
  • Experience managing large project data, especially GIS and AGS data.
  • Experience supervising site investigations like trial pitting, drilling, and monitoring.
