Job description

RPS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our environment team as an apprentice. The role can be based in Bristol, Abingdon, London, or Manchester. It is suitable for someone interested in geology and contaminated land, who enjoys both office and site work, along with travel.

We are a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy specializing in the built and natural environment, shaping future environmental, social, and economic landscapes.

We will support the successful candidate through sponsorship and payment of course fees for a relevant environmental degree, undertaken part-time (block release for 6–10 weeks annually) over five years. The rest of the time, you will assist our geo-environmental teams with environmental and geotechnical investigations, monitoring programs, audits, and related activities.

Your Role

You will work both in the office and on-site, including:

  • Environmental monitoring such as water and soil sampling.
  • Supporting ground investigation projects.
  • Preparing information and assessments for desk study appraisals.
  • Managing environmental data and familiarizing with industry data formats and software.
  • Conducting geological appraisals.
  • Working independently or as part of a team.
  • Assisting in preparing factual reports.
