RPS is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our environment team as an apprentice. We can base the role at various locations including Bristol, Abingdon, London, and Manchester. The position suits someone with a keen interest in geology and contaminated land, enjoying a balance of office and site work, along with travel.

RPS is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy specializing in the built and natural environment, shaping future environmental, social, and economic landscapes.

We will support the successful candidate through sponsorship (including course fees) for a relevant environmental degree course undertaken part-time (block release for 6–10 weeks annually) over five years. The remaining time will be spent supporting geo-environmental teams with environmental and geotechnical ground investigations, monitoring programs, audits, and related activities for our clients.

Your role

You will work both in the office and on-site, with activities including:

  • Environmental monitoring at sites, such as water and soil sampling.
  • Support for ground investigation projects.
  • Preparing information and assessments for environmental desk studies.
  • Data entry and management, familiarizing with industry data formats and software for geotechnical and geo-environmental data.
  • Geological appraisals.
  • Working independently under supervision or as part of a team.
  • Assisting in preparing factual reports.

The salary aligns with the government minimum wage, ranging between £161 and £334 weekly depending on age.
