Role Type : 12-month part-time contract (22.8 hours per week)

Salary : $107,589 - $109,747 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation

The opportunity :

We’re seeking a Senior Communications Officer to help tell the story of GenV — which is transforming research for children and their parents. You will be central in delivering internal and external communications, raising awareness, and showcasing GenV’s unique capabilities. Your work will make a significant impact on how GenV is perceived by different audiences, from the public to researchers and policymakers.

In this role, you will :

  • Coordinate media events and manage press outreach
  • Maintain and update the GenV website
  • Create and distribute stakeholder newsletters
  • Review, implement, and evaluate the impact of GenV’s communication strategy

You will collaborate closely with GenV Directors, Stream Leads, and the broader team, as well as the MCRI Communications, Philanthropy, and Government Relations teams. You’ll also engage with external partners, including web agencies and graphic designers, to ensure our communication materials are impactful.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Revises, implements and evaluates GenV’s Communication Strategy aligned to GenV’s brand.
  • Coordinates media events including drafting media releases and liaising with MCRI Communications.
  • Works collaboratively with the GenV team and MCRI to develop stories for GenV’s external stakeholder newsletter and create newsletters in Campaign Monitor using GenV’s visual style guide.
  • Manages GenV’s social media channels, creating and posting social media content including video content.
  • Manages and updates key GenV communication assets and materials such as Master slides, using GenV’s communication and visual style guide.

What we need from you :

  • Degree or higher qualification in Communications, Media, Marketing, public relations or other relevant fields.
  • 6 years experience in Communications, Media, Marketing, public relations or other relevant fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience communicating to a wide range of stakeholders and audiences including the general public, funders, and ideally families of young children.
  • Experience and comfort building productive working relationships with people from different sectors and levels of seniority.
  • Experience with managing and content development for social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X / Twitter)
  • Experience with website knowledge management systems and analytics.
