Job description

We are looking for an individual for a position to service standby generators. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have had 5 to 10 years in-the-field generator repair experience. Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform routine engine maintenance such as change oil, filters, spark plugs, etc. Ability to organize and maintain inventory, and manage time effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all makes of generators
  • Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all components of the generator, engine and switch gear
  • Repair, service and maintain all makes and models of standby generators.
  • Conduct start-ups, preventative maintenance, service and load bank tests.
  • Repair, service and maintain all makes and models of standby generators.
  • Maintain and repair automatic transfer switches * Work on a variety of commercial / industrial customer sites
  • Troubleshoot generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
  • Work on common standby generator brands such as Cummins, Kohler, Generac, Briggs and Stratton.
  • Perform administrative duties as related to role (meeting all TJC requirements)
  • Meet requirements for certifications
  • 1 - 3 years EPG/ Electronics and/or Diesel Engine Repair experience or Technical degree a plus
  • Positive interface with service writers, foreman, parts department and customers
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Must be willing to work alternate shifts as required to support the mission
Experience
  • Generator Technician: 5 years (Preferred)
Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but not to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire

The rate for this position is $48.02. This position may also be eligible for a wide range of benefits based on applicable bargaining unit agreements.
