General Workshop Assistant

Reed Engineering are working with a long established local company who are seeking a proactive and skilled General Workshop Assistant to join their team in a dynamic fabrication workshop. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational knowledge of metalworking and a keen interest in developing further skills in a hands-on environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Assist main fabricators in preparing materials for welding, including using metal saws and drills.
• Finish fabrications by spraying and fettling galvanized work, ensuring they are ready for delivery.
• Receive full training to operate a Forklift Truck to unload steel delivery lorries on site.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment to support efficient operations and safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Some basic metalworking skills and familiarity with a fabrication workshop environment.
• Experience with basic hand tools and power tools.
• Full UK Driving License is essential due to location of premises.
• Willingness to undergo training for Forklift Truck operation.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong awareness of health and safety practices.
