Job Description:

Purpose: The role of the General Supplies Technician will be to work as part of a small team of technical specialists within the cross functional General Supplies and Oils Lubricants and Gases (GS & OLG) team. The primary role of the technical team is to assist in the product specification development, in-service technical management, rationalisation and commercialisation of a range of products required to maintain and support a vast range of military platforms and facilities operating in the Land, Air and Maritime environments.

Main Duties & Responsibilities: Reporting to the GS & OLG Commodity manager, you will:

  • Act as the technical expert for the range of GS products, incl Batteries, providing day-to-day technical product support to Team Leidos and the customer.
  • Provide the GS competency to advise on product modifications, safety cases and safety issues within Team Leidos.
  • Have the confidence and initiative to build relationships with customers and suppliers to agree product requirements and specifications.
  • Work with industry experts to seek out potential for improvements to and rationalisation of product ranges, by attending contract meetings, industry expos and trade fairs to keep abreast of industry trends and innovations.
  • Must be professionally confident to provide technical support to contract tender, evaluation and through life management, incl obsolescence management.
  • Where required, review and maintain the Applicable item database for technical documents (i.e. AESPs, JSPs, APs, etc) for all GS products.
  • Maintain product technical data information on TVS’ Msys Product Data Management System and MoD Codification Support Information System.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a product support technical role.
  • Must have some basic Battery knowledge, training will be provided for further knowledge development in role
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK MoD processes and equipment.
  • A good knowledge of MS Office applications.

Desired Experience/Skills

  • Qualification to HNC level or equivalent experience in technical logistics, engineering or similar related discipline is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working in or with the UK MoD. This role will suit an ex-military service person with a technical background.
  • Knowledge of NATO codification requirement and process.
  • A working knowledge of a supply chain end to end process.
  • Ability to represent TVS with customers at a senior technical level.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • An interest in General hardware, engineering and willingness to develop your technical knowledge.
