A regional healthcare provider in Birmingham is seeking a General Practitioner for a new Single Point of Access service to enhance urgent care responses. You will lead clinical triage, support multidisciplinary teams, and ensure efficient patient navigation through community and urgent care pathways. The ideal candidate will have significant community care experience and a higher medical qualification, with a sessional rate of £13,000.

The General Practitioner working within the Single Point of Access (SPA) will play a central role in the clinical validation of referrals received from NHS 111, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and other healthcare professionals. The postholder will assess clinical information, validate dispositions, and ensure patients are directed into the most appropriate clinical pathway, balancing safety, timeliness, and effective use of healthcare resources.
The postholder will provide real-time clinical leadership and oversight, supporting a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure timely, appropriate, and safe triage decisions and care navigation. The GP will work closely with advanced clinical practitioners, registered clinicians, and consultant colleagues (via daily MDT) to ensure effective system-wide coordination and admission avoidance.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£13,000 a sessionsessional rate, paid per session.
