Job description
Overview

We are a large training practice situated close to the center of Cwmbran. We cover an area towards the South of Torfaen Council, stretching geographically from Rougemont School to Pontrhydyrun. The practice is based at Cwmbran Village Surgery and is well connected by road and rail, with ample on-site parking and EV charging.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the clinical team, ideally doing 6 sessions spread across three days with a mixture of booked clinics and on-call shifts.
  • Be flexible in how clinics are conducted, combining telephone and face-to-face appointments across the week and accommodating school runs or other family commitments.
  • Typically handle small numbers of house-call requests per day; these are triaged by the on-call doctor and allocated only if clinically necessary.
  • Engage with the practice’s enhanced services (contraception, minor surgery, diabetes, gender identity) and pursue further qualifications in these areas where possible.
Support and Development

We are a large, friendly partnership with regular clinical education sessions and social opportunities to meet with team members across different days, helping you integrate with the whole team.

About the Practice

The surgery serves 16,000 patients and is supported by a capable management team and a dedicated administrative and secretarial staff, with dedicated prescribing roles to facilitate an enjoyable working environment.

Training and Expertise

Most partners are portfolio GPs who integrate their roles into their weekly schedule and bring a range of expertise. As a member of the retraining network, with two GP appraisers in-house and 3 RCGP trainers, we are well equipped to support newly qualified GPs as well as more experienced primary care doctors seeking a supportive practice.
