Are you a newly qualified GP (within the last two years, without a substantive post) looking for an exciting and supportive role to launch your career?

Weymouth & Portland Primary Care Network are seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking GP to join our multidisciplinary team under the NHS Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Due to ARRS fundingrestrictions, this GP must not already be working in the Weymouth and Portlandarea

Main duties of the job

We would like a newly qualified GP who can work independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting. To be professional, accountable, and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.

Two Harbours Healthcare is a not for profit organisation led by local General Practices in Weymouth and Portland. Our goal is to work more closely together (and with stakeholders) to share expertise, resources and provide services for the NHS.

Job responsibilities

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake the duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care in a surgery on a PCN basis.

The successful candidate will be co-located with our PCN Same Day Access team and support with the ongoing development and expansion of the service. You will be based from only 2 sites, but will see patients from across the PCN. You will benefit from the support of experienced local GPs.

In addition to the above:

Working to BMA recommendedsafe working limits no more than 25 clinical contacts per day

15 minute appointments

Flexible workingarrangements considered to suit individual circumstances, but within coreworking hours of 08.00 18.30

No duty sessions

Mixture of same day androutine pre-bookable appointments

Only self-generated admin

Access to administrativesupport

BMA model contract toinclude 6 weeks pro rata annual leave and one session of protected CPD time perweek pro rata

Opportunity to develop aspecial interest can be considered e.g. menopause, frailty

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Newly qualified GP (within 2 years and not having had a substantive post) with full GMC registration and license to practice.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Experience
  • An understanding of the requirements of working in primary care.
  • Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions.
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Evidence of working autonomously, with some support and supervision.
  • Knowledge of General Practice Clinical Systems eg. SystmOne
  • Knowledge of the demographic area
  • Knowledge of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)
  • Awareness of issues within the wider health arena
  • Knowledge of health-promotion strategies
