Job Opportunity: General Practitioner at HMP Bure

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Bure, a category C Prison located in Badersfield, Norwich. The prison houses around 624 patients with complex needs, including long-term conditions. In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including other GPs, to deliver high-quality healthcare services.

This is a full-time role offering up to £130,000 per annum, depending on experience.

What you'll be doing:

As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will:

  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis based on patient requirements, making timely management decisions
  • Prescribe medications, review medications regularly, and monitor repeat prescriptions
  • Serve as a highly specialized resource for other healthcare team members and patients, involving diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referrals as appropriate, in line with guidelines and pathways

You will gain insights into Mental Health and Substance Misuse, with opportunities to work towards your RCGP Level 2 qualification.

Qualifications required:
  • MBChB or MBBS, registered with the GMC and on the GP Performers List
  • Evidence of annual appraisal engagement
  • Experience as a General Practitioner in community settings, including working with patients with substance misuse issues; RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse Levels 1 and 2 preferred or willingness to undertake these qualifications
