Due to expansion, NorthRiding Primary Care Network are looking to recruit an enthusiastic 6-8 session salariedGP (within 2 years of qualification) to support the existing team withinDerwent Practice to maintain high standards of clinical care and to contributefully to services provided by the Practice.

Main duties of the job

We are committedto providing high quality, safe, evidence based and accessible primary healthcare to our patients at all times, we do this through continuous learning,development and reflection, whilst ensuring all staff and patients are treatedwith dignity, honest and respect at all times.

Inaccordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post holder will makethemselves available to undertake a variety of duties. These include face toface surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home,Care Home Ward Rounds and supporting a Care home as a clinical lead.

Derwent Practice is a large andwell-established family friendly Practice within the Malton Community, ratedgood by CQC in 2023. We have a dedicated and supportive team ofhealthcare professionals, including 10 GP Partners, Salaried GPs, PracticeNurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and MentalHealth Practitioners as well as a full complement of support staff. Ourmulti-disciplinary approach allows us to provide comprehensive and personalisedcare to our patients and fosters a welcoming environment for all.

Derwent Practiceis part of The North Riding Primary Care Network, founded in 2019 which hasfour member practices. As a network we collaborate on severalprojects to address health inequalities and share best practice.

With a patientpopulation of 21,000 patients, Derwent Practice also provides medical care andtreatment to 4 local care homes (a combination of both residential and nursinghomes), supported living settings and also provides medical care cover for thelocal community hospital for a number of inpatients. In addition to careprovided for our local community, we are dedicated to training futuregenerations of healthcare professionals and are associated with Hull-YorkMedical School and Coventry University where we provide training to foundationDoctors and Student Nurses.

Job responsibilities
  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties.These include face to face surgery consultations, telephone consultations,visiting patients at home, Care Home Ward Rounds and supporting a Care home asa clinical lead.
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealingwith queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Action a share of blood results and incoming clinicaldocuments, both paper and electronic
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation topresenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health careworkers
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Provide definitive treatment (including prescribingmedications following policy patient group directives, NICE and local clinicalguidelines and local care pathways) or make necessary referrals to othermembers of the primary care team
  • Prescribing in accordance with the local or practiceprescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and earlysigns of illness
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation withpatients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
  • Referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes toagreed standards
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practicepolicies/guidelines, including, but not limited too; confidentiality,prescribing, data protection, health and safety, significant events etc
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensureevidence-based practice
  • Attending training and events organised by the practiceor other agencies where appropriate
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standardsetting within the Practice

In general, thepost holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working in Primary Care.

The above constitute themain responsibilities of the post and may be amended following consultationwith the post holder to facilitate the development of the role, the practiceand the individual. All personnel should be prepared to accept additional, orsurrender existing duties, to enable the efficient running of the Practice.

Qualifications
  • Qualified GP MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
