Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse, a Category B men's prison and young offenders institution based in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool in Merseyside. Ideal applicants would be experienced general practitioners who have prior experience prescribing for and supporting patients with substance misuse needs. HMP Altcourse is a fast paced environment where you will work closely with a full multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality patient care.

Hours

  • 8am-9pm Monday to Friday
  • 2pm-6pm Saturdays

We have 2 roles available; these hours will be worked as a job share.

Salary

This position is part time; you will receive an annual salary between £110,775 and £120,787 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Our General Practitioners are highly valued and are respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. Responsibilities will vary, and you will:

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, with opportunities to develop knowledge in areas not typically experienced within a standard practice or A&E environment
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, making timely decisions regarding future management
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at the site, with active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
