Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practice Nurse to join our friendly, supportive, high-performing team at Hannage Brook Medical Centre. The role is advertised to cover a planned absence within our current team. We are looking to recruit a candidate as soon as possible for a minimum duration of 6 months (possibly longer). The role is flexible between 15 to 20 hours per week.

Please note we will review and interview suitable candidates as applications are received, which may mean we close the advert earlier than advertised.

Options to participate in extended access clinics in the evening and Saturdays are available if additional hours are required.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to effectively manage respiratory services within the surgery and provide nursing services to patients, including childhood immunisations, vaccinations, and health screening.

Job responsibilities

To provide general practice nursing services to patients, including:

  • Assessing patient needs and providing appropriate care or treatment, either in conjunction with a GP or independently, as appropriate, according to practice policies and protocols.
  • Assisting in care for patients with chronic diseases and undergoing any required training to become proficient in these areas.
  • Performing a range of nursing duties such as wound care, ear syringing, venepuncture, ECG, immunisations, vaccinations, and other procedures as agreed with the practice, with appropriate training.
  • Undertaking health screening procedures (e.g., cervical screening) and providing health promotion advice.
  • Documenting assessments and the delivery of care.
  • Evaluating outcomes of care and making necessary adjustments to individual patient care plans.
  • Providing care for housebound patients with chronic diseases to the same standards as those attending the surgery.
  • Playing an active role in asthma and COPD care, managing patients with support from the local Impact Plus respiratory team.
