Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for General Practice Clinical Pharmacists based in GP practices across Ayrshire & Arran .

What you will do:

We require enthusiastic, self-motivated and innovative clinical pharmacists to develop and support the delivery of the Scottish Government funded Pharmacotherapy Service within GP practices in NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

You will use and develop your clinical expertise (including independent prescribing where applicable), working with a cohort of patients as part of a multidisciplinary practice team. Part of the role will also include ensuring quality and cost effective prescribing within GP practices to meet NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s efficiency savings

The posts require clinical expertise, good communication, organisational and IT skills along with the ability to work with patients and other healthcare professionals.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent.
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain (including evidence of continuing professional development).
  • Vocational Training (Level 2) or training experience to an equivalent level.
  • Relevant experience as a pharmacist and dealing with prescribers.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Highly specialised level of clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning and judgement.
  • Good knowledge, awareness and understanding of relevant professional and clinical standards and guidelines.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of information technology.
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal Planning and organisational skills.
  • Advanced arithmetic skills.
  • Critical appraisal skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Full driving licence.

Hours:

There are various contractual hours available for this role, both full-time and part-time positions will be considered .

The posts are based in GP practices across Ayrshire. Occasionally however, you may be required to work in other areas within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.

The post requires full PVG Scheme membership.

Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

A car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
