Job summary

Ashton Recruitment Ltd. seeks a General Operative for a well-established manufacturing site in Cookstown. You will support production across departments, perform assembly and finishing tasks, and operate woodworking machinery with full training provided.

The role is a temporary-to-permanent position with hours 06:30–17:15, Monday to Thursday. Starting pay is £12.71 per hour, rising to £12.91 after a six-month probation period. Training and progression opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or operative role is desirable but not essential.
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support operations across multiple production departments.
• Assist with the manufacture, assembly and preparation of finished products.
• Operate woodworking and manufacturing machinery safely (full training provided).
• Prepare materials and assist skilled operatives to meet production targets.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Carry out manual handling, lifting, moving and stacking of materials.
• Follow quality procedures and standard operating processes.
• Work as part of the production team to achieve daily and weekly targets.
• Report any hazards and comply with all health and safety procedures.
