Job summary

Peter Marshall Steel Stairs Ltd (Leeds) is seeking a General Operative to join our specialist steelwork team. The role covers general labouring, movement of steel sections and assemblies, and operation of overhead cranes and forklift trucks to support treatment and site deliveries.

You will work 39 hours per week with a focus on health and safety, housekeeping, and teamwork to meet production deadlines; the package includes a company pension, sick pay, health plan, cycle to work scheme, share

Qualifications

• Experience as a labourer with forklift licence.
• Experience working with steel in a manufacturing environment or steel stock holder.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform physical tasks safely.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods and work in various weather conditions.
• Good communication and reliability.

Hours of work: 39 per week

With the expertise and experience, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs can deliver wide ranging solutions, from small one-off applications to multi-site, multi-flight installations.

Role Purpose

We are looking to recruit a General Operative responsible for the following...

• General Labouring Duties to include Movement of steel Section and assemblies by use of Over Head Cranes & Forklift trucks. Loading & unloading of steel section & Assemblies for treatment and site deliveries. General control of all storage in goods yard maintaining Health & Safety and control and identification of work. Daily Health & safety checks for forklift trucks and other machines. General house keeping in all area's of the factory. Comply with all Health & safety instruction & Training.

Role Responsibilities

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a labourer role with Forklift truck licence.
• Previous experience working with steel in a manufacturing environment or steel stock holders.
• Skills: Ability to follow instructions, perform physical tasks, and use tools andequipment safely
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, andwork in various weather conditions
• Safety: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
• Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependability
