Job summary

Safran Nacelles in Burnley is looking for a General Manufacturing Operator to join the production team. You will prepare sheet metal materials and parts, degrease and sand items to specification, and ensure adherence to safety policies and quality standards.

As part of a small team, you will handle a range of tools, participate in 5S and continuous improvement, and maintain a clean, safe workspace in a controlled production environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the Manufacturing Industry / sheet metal environment.
• Manual dexterity with a range of tools and materials.
• Ability to work in a small team and follow process instructions.
• Experience in environmentally controlled production environments is preferred.

Role Overview:

Working as part of the production team the General Manufacturing Operators role primarily involves the preparation of Sheet Metal Material & Parts, as well as the Degreasing of Parts and Sanding Material of various size & complexity to the defined specification & standard in support of production operations. Candidates must have prior Manufacturing experience, as well as being confident and capable with hand tools and a range of equipment

Rates: standard days pays £16.99 per hour PAYE, any shift work carries £2.72 uplift

Shift Pattern / Working Hour:

Days are 6:15 to 16.00 Monday to Thursday

Early Shift is 6:00am to 14.00pm Monday to Thursday

Duties:

• Carry out responsibilities of an employee as outlined in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, adhering to specific safety measures (i.e. PPE / lifting & handling) to maintain a safe working environment for self & others.
• Provide excellent quality products and superior service to your stakeholders, both internal and external by ensuring quality control & product safety in all activities.
• Maintain and work rigorously to SAFRAN policies & procedures, continually improving and streamlining.
• Material handling in & around Sheet metal area, health & safety, 5S & workplace organisation vigilance.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, and organise 5S initiatives
• To adopt the culture of quality basics, driving Continuous Improvement as an attitude within the business.
• Identify areas and propose solutions, wherever possible, to reduce costs and maximise profit.
• Provide accurate and timely advice and support where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with your peers & other functions to foster a positive working environment.

Skills/Experience:

• Previous experience in the Manufacturing Industry / sheet metal environment or similar industry ESSENTIAL
• Previous experience of using a wide range of products, materials & tools which demand a high level of manual dexterity
• Able to work within a small team using own initiative to achieve production demand.
• Ability to interpret process documentation and work instructions (WIS) to ensure defined processes are adhered to.
• Posses good spacial awareness.
• Experience working in environmentally controlled production environment.
• Basic IS systems & computer skills.
• Capable of communicating clearly and concisely.
• Able to escalated at the right time and at the right level.
• A good team player.
• An ambassador for the company and able to defend its interests.
