Job description

General Manager – All Adult Inpatients and Urgent Care Services

The General Manager will lead all aspects of the day-to-day operational management of the Inpatient and Urgent Care sub-directorate of All Adult Mental Health Services. They will be responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality care and efficient service delivery.

The post holder will be involved in developing and implementing strategic plans for Adult and Older People Mental Health services, including resource allocation, service development, and workforce planning. They will work closely with safety and quality leads and clinical and professional leads to provide quality assurance and ensure seamless care pathways for patients. They will provide strong leadership to manage and support the delivery of complex clinical services and to implement systems and processes that enable services to respond effectively to changing environments, leading transformation and ensuring sustained improvements.

This is an exciting time to join Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust as we drive our inpatient transformation program and strengthen the Emergency and Urgent Care pathway. The post holder will lead in the transition and integration, including creating collaborative pathways and system working.

The role includes accountability for delivering high-quality, safe clinical services across inpatient wards and urgent care pathways, enhancing patient experience through effective patient flow systems.

The post holder will manage performance of services, including quality, patient safety, satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and compliance with protocols.

They will ensure efficient management of Serious Incidents (SIs), complaints, and disciplinary issues, producing high-quality, timely reports and action plans.

The role requires providing assurance that the clinical environment is safe and fit for patient care, leading necessary interventions where it is not.

They will ensure resources are used efficiently, reducing waste and improving clinical quality.

The post involves contributing to business and long-term planning, capturing and planning for service developments.

Leadership in developing a culture of leadership through coaching is essential.

The post holder will lead specific areas to ensure Directorate-wide improvements and good governance, including policy development and implementation across the Trust.

Encouraging research to support evidence-based service improvement and innovation is also part of the role.

The role includes participation in Trust-wide on-call rotas.
