JOB TITLE: General Manager FS Operations London and South East

LOCATION: London & South

REPORTING TO: Divisional Director

SALARY: Competitive

Job Objective & Responsibilities:

To facilitate and control the standards of all support services supplied by ABM. Through competent leadership and management skills, the General Manager will develop an effective team that consistently meets or exceeds the service needs of the client.

Main Duties:
General Duties
  • Perform investigations as requested by senior management, maintain quality management systems, and conduct monthly quality assurance checks.
  • Meet budgetary targets, monitor financial plans including profit and loss, and participate in strategic planning and setting key objectives.
  • Monitor expenditure and income against plans, manage credit control, and control all direct costs efficiently.
  • Ensure forecasts are achieved and implement price adjustments when necessary.
  • Review and improve cost-efficient operations and manage margin improvements through productivity.
  • Oversee wage sheets submitted by site and regional managers to ensure correct payments and adherence to budgets.
  • Authorize material requisitions, ensuring they are within budgets and approved lists.
Administrative Duties
  • Respond to customer queries both orally and in writing, and set work targets for lower management.
  • Attend internal and customer meetings monthly.
Staff Recruitment, Selection, and Industrial Relations
  • Recruitment of regional managers, branch managers, contract managers, site managers, and supervisors.
  • Maintain current employment records, conduct staff appraisals, and recommend candidates for development.
  • Ensure employment complies with company procedures and staff are trained accordingly.
  • Ensure adherence to disciplinary and grievance procedures and health and safety policies.
Business Development
  • Expand revenue, retain profitable trade, seek growth, convert estimates, and assist with sales activities including prospecting, surveying, estimating, and securing new trade.
