Job summary

Leisure People is seeking an ambitious General Manager to launch and lead the operations of a high profile wet and dry leisure centre opening in Kingston upon Thames. You will oversee a turnover exceeding £3.5m and build a membership base of 5,000+ members and 2,000 Learn to Swim participants across three studios with a 100+ class timetable.

You will lead a team of department heads and around 100 staff and freelancers, manage budgets and KPIs, drive memberships and learn-to-swim targets, and

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership to staff and managers, ensuring high standards of performance, customer service, and safety.
• Take responsibility for the financial and operational success of the centre, including managing budgets and delivering against ambitious KPIs.
• Meet and exceed monthly sales and retention targets for both memberships and learn to swim participation.
• Develop and oversee a diverse programme of activities that balances commercial performance with community needs.
• Be responsible for new product launches and project manage a significant cap ex investment in the gym.
• Work with multiple stakeholders and community wellness and sports development partners.
• Drive continuous improvement, championing initiatives such as Quest and other quality standards.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire your team, ensuring they feel supported, developed, and engaged.

General Manager - New Leisure Centre, Kingston upon Thames

£55,000 + 10K Bonus

I am looking for an ambitious and inspiring General Manager to launch and lead the operations of a high profile wet and dry leisure centre that is opening in Kingston upon Thames. You will be responsible for a turnover in excess of £3.5m and will be responsible for a building up a membership base of 5000+ members and over 2000 participants on the learn to swim programme with 3 studios with a 100+ class timetable. You will be leading a team of heads of department and will have a total of around 100 full and part-time team members and freelance instructors. Working at the heart of the community you will also play a pivotal role in engaging with and delivering a wide range of community wellness programs and initiatives

As General Manager, you will:

In addition to a highly competitive basic salary of up to £55,000 with a 10K potential annual bonus.
