GateSource HR Agribusiness Division is partnering with an industry leader with operations and subsidiaries in multiple countries.
To support its growth, we are looking for a General Manager to direct all activities for the management and communication in manufacturing.
General Description:
The General Manager will oversee the entirety of a contemporary food processing facility situated in the Caribbean. Key duties involve managing industrial operations, fostering business growth, and ensuring profitability by implementing a strategic plan through collaborative efforts, thorough analysis, and innovative thinking. This includes formulating comprehensive business plans encompassing both short and long-term goals, budgets, and performance indicators.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of operations, including Quality Assurance, Milling Operations, Maintenance, and product storage.
  • Development and execution of strategic business plans.
  • Providing guidance to senior management for their short and long-term plans.
  • Offering insight into new product development and strategic commercial decisions.
  • Overseeing new business projects and capital expenditures.
  • Ensuring efficiency and optimization in production and distribution.
  • Management and development of the management team.
  • Reviewing and approving cost/profit center budgets.
  • Ensuring cost control and margin maximization.
  • Regular review of management reports and financial projections.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and open communication.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, partners, board of directors, and government officials as required.
  • Monitoring inventory levels to avoid stock outs and maintain cost optimization.
  • Cultivating relationships with key customers through regular visits.
  • Implementing objective-based personnel performance reviews.
  • Addressing legal and compliance matters with retained counsel.
  • Managing employee relations and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance or related field.
  • Over 10 years of management experience in industrial operations or food manufacturing.
  • Understanding of agricultural commodities markets.
  • Experience in managing operations in developing countries, with knowledge of food distribution being advantageous.
  • Experience in addressing theft and fraud in a developing country setting.
  • Experience working in the Caribbean Community
  • English speaking
