Job summary

The Bear, Bilton, is a modern community pub operated by Charles Wells. We seek a General Manager to run day-to-day operations, drive exceptional food and drink delivery, and uphold guest standards. You will lead from the front, develop the team, and deliver against sales and profit targets.

You will also manage stock control, create a high-performing team, and conduct regular appraisals to drive performance. A supportive, fun culture awaits in this busy pub.

Qualifications

• Previous General Management experience in wet-led community pub environment.
• Excellent operational and back-office management skills.
• Strong financial understanding and ability to adapt to changing business needs.
• Ability to lead from the front and develop & train the team.
• Ambitious, result-driven, with passion for the industry.
• Energy and motivation to inspire your team.

Company Description

The Bear is a modern community pub on the edge of Bilton village and is at the heart of the new residential development. The site recently reopened after a transformational refurbishment to bring local residents an exciting new look and feel, combined with a unique dining and drink offer.

Position

Your Role As General Manager

• Overall management of the pub, maintaining front and back of house standards to drive excellence in food and drink delivery
• Ensuring guests are cared for to the highest standards and expectations exceeded
• Delivering against key measures of sales, profit, and team retention whilst having fun along the way!
• Conduct regular stock control and compare to usage reports including waste records to identify opportunities for tighter control
• Create and maintain a motivated team with excellent standards identifying talent and ensuring succession
• Regular employee appraisals and implementation of performance management

Requirements

• Previous General Management experience, ideally gained in wet led community pub environment
• Excellent operational skills as well as a solid base of back office management
• Full financial understanding, and be able to react to the ever-changing needs of the business
• The ability to lead from the front and develop & train the team where required
• A result driven and ambitious individual excited at the opportunity to grow your business
• A passion for the industry and the challenges that come with it
• Energy and motivation to successfully lead and inspire your team
