Job Title: General Manager

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a General Manager to provide high-level executive and operational support to the CEO and leadership team. This role ensures the smooth running of internal systems, administration, processes, and compliance frameworks. It combines executive assistant responsibilities with oversight of bookkeeping, statutory compliance, and project systems, while offering flexibility to take on additional operations, administration, and finance duties as the organisation grows.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Systems & Organisation

  • Maintain and improve company systems (MS Planner, OneDrive/SharePoint, document management).
  • Organise weekly progress meetings, including agendas, notes, and follow-ups (with support of AI tools).
  • Manage office upkeep, supplies, subscriptions, and vendor contracts.

Financial Oversight & Bookkeeping

  • Process invoices, track expenses, assist with budget vs. actuals, and liaise with accountants for reconciliations and reporting.
  • Support banking administration and maintain statutory registers.
  • Coordinate VAT, payroll, and year-end reporting with accountants.

Project & Operations Support

  • Assist in tracking project costs and liaising with external property/project managers.
  • Support due diligence, planning, and compliance requirements (insurance, certificates, etc.).

Executive & Strategic Support

  • Provide operational and administrative support to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Liaise with lawyers, insurers, councils, and external partners.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives such as funding processes, legal agreements, and acquisitions.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks across projects.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable liaising with external partners.
  • Working knowledge of Xero or similar finance systems (training available).
  • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to cover a wide range of responsibilities.
