Job description

A.J. Allan Ltd, (AJA) a subsidiary company of IPM Potato Group Ltd (IPM), are seed potato growing and sales merchants based in Brechin, Angus, annually producing 200ha/8,000 tonnes of seed potatoes for annual supply to the export and domestic markets.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and highly motivated General Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of AJA growing, storage, grading and trading activities.

A good knowledge of general potato agronomy, crop production and storage are desirable as is an understanding of modern machinery.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead a team of five full-time staff and up to twenty agency/temporary staff
  2. Production planning to facilitate early harvest & shipment to key export markets
  3. Liaise with landlords to secure suitable land to meet production targets
  4. Assist with preparation of annual budgets
  5. Machinery procurement and replacement planning
  6. Provision of accurate stock and inventory
  7. Facilities management; 7,000 tonnes of on-site storage & grading capacity
  8. Marketing of free variety seed and ware as necessary

The successful candidate will work closely with IPM to assist in meeting all production and quality targets. A competitive remuneration package will be offered.
