Role: General Manager - Premier Smokehouse Operation

Salary: £36-40k, bonus potential

Location: Downton, near Salisbury

The Company

We are working with a fantastic leading seafood business, who have been a key supplier to hotels, restaurants, and foodservice operators across the South for over 25 years. With a reputation for outstanding quality and service, they are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead their acquired Smoked Fish production facility, set in a stunning location, near Salisbury.

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 3.30pm.
Duties
  • Leading a small team of 3.
  • Oversee the full smoked fish production process from raw material to dispatch
  • Ensure production targets are achieved within budget and to high quality standards
  • Implement efficient schedules, workflows, and resource management
  • Maintain and improve food safety, health & safety, and quality assurance systems
  • Monitor and report on key operational and financial metrics
  • Conducting tours and talking about the smoking process to small audiences
  • Lead and develop a team of production staff and supervisors
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster a positive work environment
  • Manage stock levels and coordinate procurement with suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with all UK food safety, environmental, and health & safety legislation
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
  • Maintain communication with company Directors and internal departments
The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior role within food production, ideally in seafood or smoked goods. Strong leadership, operational efficiency, and a deep understanding of food safety are essential.

Strong knowledge and HACCP Level 3 and Food Manufacturing Level 3 qualifications are also required.
