Job summary

City Facilities Management Limited seeks a General Maintenance Technician for a mobile role serving Southampton and surrounding stores. You will perform fabric repairs, light plumbing, and housekeeping tasks across multiple sites, with a focus on safety and store readiness.

A van is provided for site visits, with a 40-hour week and permanent contract. The role requires NVQ/City & Guilds in a relevant trade, a full UK driving licence, and strong health and safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• Essential NVQ/City & Guilds in a relevant trade; multi-trade experience in FM, retail or public buildings.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Ability to carry out fabric and grounds repairs (floors, walls, doors, fixtures, housekeeping).
• Confident using iPads.

Responsibilities

• Maintain tools, equipment and materials; ensure equipment is safe and ready for tasks.
• Provide clear support and communication across stores; schedule visits to up to 15 locations and keep store teams informed.

Job Title: General Maintenance Technician Location: Southampton & Surrounding (mobile role, van provided) Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: 40 Hours Per Week Salary: £30,000 Total Salary + great company benefits! An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled General Maintenance Technician to join our company to work with one of our major UK supermarket clients. This mobile role supports multiple stores through planned visits and responsive maintenance. You'll complete a wide range of building fabric and housekeeping repairs-including fixing floors, walls, doors, toilets, fitting rooms, basic plumbing and other general upkeep-along with carrying out and assisting minor PPMs to ensure each store stays in good working order. You'll work closely with store management teams during every planned visit, giving clear updates on progress, next steps, and timelines. A key part of the role is making sure all stores remain safe, compliant, and fully operational, identifying issues early, for logging tasks and accessing systems.
