- Journal Ledger Accountant
- Annual Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)

We are seeking a Journal Ledger Accountant to join our globally respected brand in the shipping industry. This role is ideal for someone with strong financial reporting and accounting skills, knowledge of UK tax and audit requirements, and experience working with international reporting systems. Chinese (Mandarin) language skills are a plus.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Produce accurate monthly and yearly financial statements.
- Consolidate financial data from different business segments.
- Report monthly/quarterly financial data to Taiwan HQ using their in-house systems.
- Monitor day-to-day cash flow and approve and verify bank transactions and payments.
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns and complete NIC Class 1A & 1B reporting to HMRC.
- Learn and support internal reporting processes such as AR and AP.
- Serve as Audit Point of Contact and ensure timely Statutory Accounts filing with Companies House.
- Coordinate with tax consultants to meet corporation tax filing/payment deadlines.
- Ensure all SAO tax-related issues are dealt with promptly.
- Report monthly pension contributions accurately and liaise with company and bank managers.
- Support the Chief Accountant on HQ-related financial queries.
- Resolve AR/AP discrepancies across accounting and support systems.
- Manage a well-established, stable, and collaborative finance team.
- Assist with depot accounting processes, especially during year-end closure.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a multinational setting.
- Advanced proficiency in financial reporting tools and strong understanding of UK tax regulations and audit standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Quick learner of internal systems; experience in ERP and bespoke accounting platforms preferred.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems a plus.
- Prior exposure to the shipping/logistics industry is an advantage but not essential.
