Job description

Job Title: General Labourer

Location: Barton Under Needwood

Duration: minimum 3 months

Hours: Mon – Thurs 7am to 5pm and Fri 7am to 1pm

We are currently recruiting for 2 x General Labourers on a contract basis at Barton Under Needwood.

The main duties include ensuring materials are supplied where and when needed, keeping workstations fully stocked with materials, and contributing to overall higher productivity of other workers.

FLT Licence advantageous

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Support production activities to achieve planned output through quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  2. Identify areas for improvement within the organization to enhance business performance, reduce lifecycle costs, and improve reliability through engineering.
  3. Collaborate with Business Improvement groups to identify and implement process improvements.
  4. Provide KPIs as requested, gather data, and systematically resolve issues related to station performance.
  5. Analyze systems to identify trends in reporting and fault occurrences, and generate reports.
  6. Maintain professionalism in appearance and be confident and self-assured.
  7. Transfer materials, parts, and assemblies from stores or staging areas to production.
  8. Prepare materials for proper use.
  9. Use enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  10. Apply continuous improvement methods to reduce errors and defects.
  11. Replenish materials and tools as needed, and address defective items.
  12. Manage Kanban systems.
  13. Stay active, ensuring materials are at safety stock levels and moving materials between locations and workstations.
Background & Experience:
  • Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail, automotive, or engineering industry.
  • Practical mechanical skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
