Job summary

A local manufacturing company in Axminster is looking for a General Hand to assist in the assembly of stoves and other production tasks. The ideal candidate should have experience in production assembly or metal work, attention to detail, and be able to work unsupervised. The role offers a starting salary between £12.21 - £12.50 per hour and includes holiday benefits, working 36 hours a week from Monday to Thursday.

Overview

Department: Production. The General Hand main work area is Factory Production. Job Role:

• Assemble stoves in accordance with instructions.
• Build sub-assemblies in accordance with instructions.
• Pack stoves in accordance with instructions.
• Re-work returned goods and internal non-conforming parts as required.
• Manufacture doors in accordance with instructions.
• Produce fettled parts to specification and schedule; using a grinder to smooth off rough edges/surfaces of cut and welded metal parts.
• Produce painted parts to specification and schedule.
• Report any faults and discuss improvement opportunities with the Team Leader.
• Ensure adequate housekeeping is maintained within your own work area.
• Ensure all Company Health and Safety Procedures are followed.
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is used as directed, maintained and stored correctly.
• Ensure compliance to all Company Rules and Regulations.
• Any other reasonable task as directed by your Line Manager.

Minimum requirements

• Prior experience of Production assembly or metal work is preferable but training would be provided.
• Able to work unsupervised.
• Able to meet targets, whilst demonstrating accuracy and quality of work.
• Able to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions.

Salary

Starting salary £12.21 - £12.50 per hour, depending on prior experience

Hours of work

36 hours per week: Monday to Thursday, 7.00am until 4:30pm with 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Holidays

17.5 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays, increasing by 1 day at 2 years' service, another day at 4 years' service, to a maximum of 20.5 days at 6 years' service.
