Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a General Food Production Operative in Lee Mill, Plymouth, for a temporary-to-permanent role. The position involves weighing and mixing ingredients, feeding production equipment, packing finished products and ensuring quality control, with a 37.5-hour week and a shift pattern from Monday to Thursday.

The candidate will need previous food production experience, the ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 15kg, and a keen eye for detail to identify packaging

Responsibilities

• Weigh, mix, chop and batch-cook ingredients according to recipes and specifications.
• Feed raw materials into production machinery, start and monitor equipment, and clear minor jams.
• Pack finished food products into tubs, trays or cartons.
• Check seal quality and ensure accurate barcoding and labelling.
• Inspect products on the production line for defects, check weights and remove substandard items.
• Follow strict food safety and HACCP procedures.
• Wear PPE such as hairnets and overalls and keep working area clean by following hygiene practices.

Key Duties

• Weigh, mix, chop and batch-cook ingredients according to recipes and technical specifications.
• Feed raw materials into production machinery, start and monitor equipment, and clear minor jams.
• Pack finished food products into tubs, trays or cartons.
• Check seal quality and ensure accurate barcoding and labelling.
• Inspect products on the production line for defects, check weights and remove substandard items.
• Follow strict food safety and HACCP procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hairnets and overalls.
• Follow clean-as-you-go procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic working environment.

Requirements

• Previous food production experience - essential.
• Ability to stand for long shifts and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to occasionally lift boxes or tubs, typically weighing between 10kg and 15kg.
• Good attention to detail when identifying product or packaging errors and checking batch codes.
• Ability to follow instructions from Line Leaders.
• Ability to work closely with colleagues on a fast-paced production line.
