Job description

We are seeking a flexible and enthusiastic General Cover Teacher to join a supportive school team. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who enjoys variety and is committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning across different subjects and year groups. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a General Cover Teacher:

• Deliver planned lessons and supervise classes in the absence of the regular class teacher.

• Ensure pupils remain engaged and on task, following the set work and school policies.

• Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive learning environment.

• Provide feedback on student progress and report any issues to relevant staff.

• Support the wider school community, stepping in where needed to maintain smooth daily operations.

• Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

Ideal General Cover Teacher:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (strong applications from unqualified cover supervisors with relevant experience will be considered).

• Experience teaching across a range of subjects and age groups is desirable.

• Strong classroom management and organisational skills as a General Cover Teacher.

• Flexible, adaptable, and calm under pressure.

• Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
