Job summary

Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a General Catering Assistant to support the Head Chef and Supervisor in delivering a welcoming, efficient catering service for students and staff. You will help prepare and serve food, maintain clean, safe and well-stocked catering areas, and follow food safety and allergen management procedures to ensure a positive experience for customers.

Qualifications

• Reliable and adaptable, able to work in a busy catering environment.
• Previous catering experience desirable, especially in education.
• Willingness to complete Level 2 Food Safety training if not already held.

As a General Catering Assistant, you'll support the Head Chef and Supervisor in delivering a welcoming, efficient and high-quality catering service. From preparing and serving food to maintaining clean, safe and well-stocked catering areas, you'll help ensure students, staff and visitors have a positive experience every day.

This is a varied role within a busy catering environment, offering the opportunity to develop your skills while working as part of a supportive team. You'll follow food safety and hygiene procedures, provide excellent customer service and contribute to the smooth running of day-to-day catering operations.

We're looking for someone who is reliable, adaptable and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Previous catering experience is desirable, particularly within an education setting, along with knowledge of food safety and allergen management. A Level 2 Food Safety qualification is desirable, although support can be provided to achieve this.Above all, you'll be committed to delivering a consistently high standard of service and creating a positive experience for our customers.
