Job summary

Amey at HMP Lindholme, Doncaster, is seeking a General Building Operative. You will carry out general maintenance and basic repairs across the site, support tradespeople, and handle DIY tasks. The role includes an on-site on-call rota and weekend allowance, with 39 hours per week.

This is a stable, long-term position on a single site with good on-site facilities, including free parking, gym and catering, and opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in general maintenance or DIY.
• NVQ trade qualification or CITB (or similar).
• Reliable, team player with a good work ethic.
• Willing to learn and pick up new skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and basic repairs across site.
• Support tradespeople with day-to-day tasks.
• DIY work such as decorating, furniture building and repairs.
• Escort contractors when required.
• Keep areas safe, tidy and well maintained.

Salary: £28,792 + 15% weekend allowance

Hours: 39 hours per week

• Monday to Friday: 07:45 – 16:45
• Saturday to Sunday: 07:45 - 15:15
• 1 in 3 weekends (paid at +15%)
• On-call rota included
