Job summary

Daylesford Stays, part of The Bamford Collection, seeks a General Assistant to keep rooms and cottages immaculate and public areas tidy. You will support guest experience through attentive cleaning, restocking, and outdoor area care across the estate.

This role requires weekend work and overtime as needed, with a 30-hour baseline. The position offers a premium hospitality environment and opportunities to contribute to guest comfort year-round.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping is preferred.
• Maintain high cleanliness standards with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time and multitask during busy periods.
• Physically able to perform demanding tasks and long shifts.
• Reliable and discreet when working in guest areas.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring rooms are cleaned to the highest standard.
• Maintaining public areas, including the Terrace, and reporting damages or issues.
• Keeping car parks, driveways, and outside areas tidy and free from debris.
• Managing external bins and ensuring they are put out for collection on designated days.
• Preparing outdoor areas with cushions and parasols for guests.
• Assisting with general tidiness of internal pub areas.
• Removing linen and towels from rooms/cottages after guest departure and replenishing stock.
• Delivering and collecting laundry and consumables from local suppliers.
• Clearing and restocking fireplaces and wood supplies.
• Performing cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing.
• Stock cupboards stocking amenities and consumables.
• Replacing lightbulbs as required.
• Completing changeover days efficiently.
• Protecting equipment and reporting inadequacies.
• Notifying Manager of damages or issues across the property.
• Assisting colleagues with flexibility and supporting other departments.
• Using company vehicles responsibly across the estate.
• Maintaining company vehicles daily including cleaning, refuelling and safety checks.

About The Role

As a General Assistant, you will play a vital role in keeping our rooms and cottages immaculate, ensuring they are cleaned to the highest standard and ready for guest arrivals. You will also support the upkeep of our public areas, including the Terrace, car parks, driveways, and outdoor spaces, making sure they remain tidy, welcoming, and free from debris. From preparing cushions and parasols for guests on sunny days to restocking fireplaces and wood supplies in colder months, your work will help create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere throughout the year.

Your Responsibilities

• Ensuring rooms are cleaned to the highest standard.
• Maintaining public areas, including the Terrace, and reporting any damages or issues with lighting, pathways, furniture, cushions, or parasols.
• Keeping car parks, driveways, and outside areas tidy and free from debris.
• Managing external bins and ensuring they are put out for collection on designated days.
• Preparing outdoor areas with cushions and parasols for guests, weather permitting.
• Assisting with general tidiness of internal pub areas.
• Removing linen and towels from rooms/cottages after guest departure and delivering fresh packs before arrivals.
• Delivering and collecting laundry and consumable supplies from local suppliers.
• Clearing and restocking fireplaces and wood supplies.
• Performing cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing.
• Ensuring stock cupboards are fully stocked with amenities and consumables.
• Replacing external and internal lightbulbs as required.
• Completing changeover days efficiently.
• Protecting equipment and reporting any inadequacies.
• Notifying your Manager of damages or issues across the property.
• Assisting colleagues with flexibility, supporting other departments when required.
• Using company vehicles responsibly across the estate, including public road.
• Responsible for maintaining company vehicles on a daily basis, including cleaning, refuelling and safety checks.

Skills And Requirements

• Previous experience in Housekeeping is preferred.
• Attention to Detail: Ensure all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
• Time Management: Complete tasks efficiently within designated timeframes, especially during busy periods.
• Physical Stamina: Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
• Flexibility & Versatility: Support various departments as needed, including cleaning, basic kitchen duties, or helping with guest services.
• Reliability & Discretion: Maintain confidentiality, especially when working in guest areas, and be a dependable team member.
