Daish’s Holidays is seeking a General Assistant to support the smooth running of our hotels across the UK. You’ll rotate across Night Porter, Kitchen Porter, Porter, Laundry and general maintenance, gaining hands-on experience in multiple departments.

This is a varied and hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys variety, is happy to get stuck in and wants the opportunity to develop a range of skills across different areas of the hotel.

As a General Assistant, you’ll provide cover across a number of areas, including Night Porter, Kitchen Porter, Porter, Laundry and general maintenance, as well as providing additional support across other departments when required.

No two days will necessarily be the same. You’ll have the opportunity to work across different areas of the hotel, learn new skills and make a real difference to our guests and the wider team.

What will you be doing?

• Working Night Porter shifts, helping to ensure the hotel is safe, secure and well looked after overnight
• Supporting the kitchen team as a Kitchen Porter, helping with washing up, cleaning and keeping kitchen areas organised
• Working as a Porter, assisting guests with luggage and providing a friendly and helpful service
• Supporting the Laundry team with the preparation, handling and organisation of linen
• Carrying out general maintenance and upkeep around the hotel, including basic repairs, painting, decorating, touch-ups and other practical tasks
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues and supporting the wider team to keep the hotel in good condition
• Providing additional support across the hotel when required, helping teams during busy periods, holidays and staff absence
• Keeping work areas clean, tidy and safe and following all relevant Health & Safety procedures
• Providing friendly and helpful service to our guests, whatever area of the hotel you are working in
• Working flexibly across different shifts and departments to support the needs of the hotel
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the hotel

What are we looking for?

• No previous experience across all areas of the role is required, as support and training will be provided
• Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work across different areas of the hotel
• Practical and hands-on, with an ability to carry out basic maintenance and general upkeep
• Reliable and dependable, particularly when providing cover across different teams and shifts
• Friendly, approachable and guest-focused
• Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
• Organised and able to manage different tasks and priorities
• Willing to learn new skills and support colleagues across the hotel
• Positive and willing to get stuck in wherever needed
• Able to follow company procedures and Health & Safety requirements
• Good communication skills and a helpful attitude

Hours

This is a flexible role and will include working weekends and bank holidays, with shifts varying depending on the area of the hotel you are supporting.

As the role provides cover across a number of departments, you will need to be flexible and willing to work different shifts, including occasional night work when required.
