General Assistant | 7978 | Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2026 | 15 hours per week | £12.65 per hour (Scale C) | Millennium Library

We are looking for a part time member of staff to join our team of General Assistants at the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library, which is one of the busiest and most vibrant libraries in the UK.


Main Duties Include

  • Preparing the library for opening and closure, ensuring it is a safe and welcoming place for visitors.
  • Preparing rooms and spaces for events and meetings.
  • Being responsible for the moving of in-coming and out-going deliveries and mail in and around the library.
  • Taking responsibility for health and safety, reporting any defects, taking action to resolve problems, following instructions from the Library Manager to ensure that defects are repaired in a timely fashion.

You will work as part of a team, helping to make the library a safe and welcoming place and support customer service, including preparing the library for opening and closing, setting up rooms for events and meetings, assisting customers with basic IT queries, making minor repairs to books and equipment, shelving, and organising deliveries in and out of the library. You will have experience of working in a customer service face-to-face environment, serving customers of all ages and from the whole community.
