Job description

General Assignment Unit Multimedia Content Creator
  • Full-time
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Location: Remote - UK
  • Division: Editorial
  • Salary Currency: GBP Sterling
  • Department: Content Hub
  • Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for digital media?

We’re looking for a versatile Multimedia Content Creator to join our General Assignment Unit—someone who can craft compelling written and video content that captivates online audiences. In this hybrid role, you’ll cover a wide range of lifestyle and entertainment topics, using the latest production techniques and tapping into digital trends to engage viewers and boost our reach.

If you’re confident in reporting on diverse subjects, thrive in a fast-paced news environment, and are eager to help shape content for an under-35 audience—all while upholding journalistic integrity—we want to hear from you!

    Role Location

This is a home based role, we are therefore open to candidates across the UK.

    About us

Hello, we’re Reach. Every day, our trusted news, stories and content connect with millions of people where they live - whether that’s on their social feed or at their neighbourhood newsstand; through their local community or their take on the hot topic of the day.

We're home to more than 120 brands - from household names like the Mirror, Express, Daily Star and Daily Record, to local titles like MyLondon, BelfastLive, and the Manchester Evening News, and brands making a splash in the US like the Irish Star.

It's our ability to understand people and the things that matter to them that makes us the UK and ROI's largest commercial news publisher. We reach 70% of the UK's online population, 10% of the US online population, and over 100 million social followers around the world, reflecting who they are, where they live and what they love.

    Your story, with Reach

As a modern media organisation, we're much more than just news. And it takes a wide range of people and skills to serve diverse audiences, customers and communities like we do.

We know everyone has their own story to tell, so we’ve built an environment where every background is respected and every day is a day to explore.

We’ll help you build a career that works with your life, while giving you the space to create and grow.

    Job Description

In this role, you’ll generate and pitch story ideas tailored for digital platforms, producing engaging written and video reports using creative production techniques like graphics and new media. You’ll shoot, write, edit, and deliver high-quality video content optimised for various channels—including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and our brand websites. Staying on top of the latest trends in digital storytelling, you’ll adapt content for each platform’s unique audience and contribute to strategies that drive video monetisation.

Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with brand teams and distribution colleagues to ensure content performs at its best everywhere it appears. You’ll also engage with audiences across social media to boost reach and interaction, using analytics tools to refine strategy and improve results. Embracing AI tools in line with company policy, you’ll optimise content creation for accuracy and efficiency.

You’ll create compelling affiliate content that drives revenue and traffic to partner sites, always aligning with brand guidelines. Additionally, you’ll tailor stories for off-platform channels when appropriate while upholding editorial standards. For every story, you’ll consider audio and video elements—capturing or curating footage as needed—and actively contribute to building a diverse and inclusive organisation that reflects our communities.

    Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field—or an NCTJ qualification (or be willing to work towards one). You should be comfortable using video editing tools like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro and familiar with major social media platforms. Proven experience as a journalist or reporter focused on digital content is required, as is a demonstrated ability to deliver compelling stories in both text and video formats. Experience in varied roles with a broad remit is preferred, along with a strong command of English language and grammar.

You’ll need to be skilled at creating engaging written and video content tailored for different platforms, with strong digital writing abilities and the knack for injecting personality and the right tone into your work. A good understanding of SEO for both video and written pieces is essential, as is the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality. Excellent communication, teamwork, time management, and professionalism are a must, along with the flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
