Milton Keynes Mental Health Services Consultant Psychiatrist, (10 PAs) + on call supplement

We are seeking a qualified Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join our team on Hazel Ward. The role involves providing high-quality care to adult male patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions, ensuring assessments for intervention are conducted in a sensitive, accessible, and culturally appropriate manner. The position is based at the Campbell Centre on the Milton Keynes University Hospital campus, with office space and administrative support provided.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Milton Keynes Mental Health as we expand and develop our teaching programs. We have a robust training environment, including Core and Senior trainees in Psychiatry, GP trainees, Foundation trainees, and undergraduate medical students.

Main duties of the job
  • Management of ward patients; conducting ward rounds, reviews, tribunals, and work related to the Mental Health Act

Job description
  • Manage, appraise, and supervise junior medical staff as agreed with the Clinical Director, adhering to Trust policies
  • Ensure compliance with the New Deal and Working Time Directive among junior staff
  • Perform administrative duties related to patient care
  • Participate in service and business planning for the mental health services
  • Engage in annual appraisal processes for Consultants

  • Collaborate with managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service operation and contribute to management activities
