A mental health services provider in Wythenshawe is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead the South Manchester Home Based Treatment Team. The role involves clinical leadership, managing patient care and supporting a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates will hold a medical degree and a GMC licence. The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the South Manchester Home Based Treatment Team. The postholder will have an opportunity to contribute to the delivery and development of the team.
The post holder will work alongside a 0.6WTE Consultant colleague.
The team is made up of senior and experienced health care professionals from a range of backgrounds. The team has one Trainee Advanced Practitioner, one Team Manager, three Senior Practitioners, and 18 Mental Health Practitioners from a multi-disciplinary background comprised of Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists. There are two Assistant Practitioner and four Support Workers. The team has access to city wide pharmacist support and a clinical psychologist shared with our colleagues in Central Manchester HBT.
Provide Clinical leadership into the HBTT MDT
Provide direct clinical care to patients referred to HBTT (assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management) including the assessment and management of risk.
Deliver evidence-based care
Be committed to multidisciplinary care and support the team in organising the care of patients, providing care packages, advising on appropriate interventions
Provide clinical leadership within teams and within the community service and adult care group generally
Work closely with other teams (and consultants) including primary care, Drug and Alcohol services, EIP team, and CMHTs to provide safe care across points of transition as well as with liaison psychiatry teams and inpatient teams and consultants where appropriate.
Liaison with external agencies including police, probation, social services housing providers where appropriate
Work with colleagues in the community service to provide consultation and liaison with general practitioners and other referrers as necessary
Provide expert advice and input in relation to the care of patients requiring detention under The Mental Health Act
Undertake Mental Health Act assessments in conjunction with team colleagues
Supervise medical students, junior and non-consultant career grade doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and non-medical prescriber colleagues
