Were offering two exciting permanent Consultant Psychiatrist roleswithin Jerseys Community Mental Health Serviceswith the flexibility to tailor your job plan to your interests. Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to provide medical expertise in the field of Adult CMHT Psychiatry. The key responsibilities and expectations are:

Responsibility for the investigation, diagnosis, and management of psychiatric disorders in a community setting for patients aged 18-65 years.

Providing clinical leadership, support, and advice to the adult community mental health team.

Contribution to the Care and Recovery framework process for individuals who are care co-ordinated.

Supervising one of the staff grade doctors.

Close working relationships with other parts of the mental health care group.

Fulfilling the role of Responsible Officer for detained patients on long term leave in the community, working closely with the Mental Health Law Office to ensure timely delivery of tribunal reports and other documentation linked to Jersey Mental Health Law.

Working collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and the voluntary sector.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Liaising with other medical specialties and primary care colleagues as required.

To record clinical activity accurately and contemporaneously on the electronic patient record system and send letters to GPs.

Participating in the in-house teaching programme.

Fulfilling the CPD requirements set by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and participating in a peer group.

Participating in the development and delivery of training programmes for a variety of disciplines aimed at improving the level of expertise and the standard of care for adults with mental health needs within Health and Community Services.

Participating in the all-age 1:14 on-call rota for psychiatry and contribution to the day on call rota for MHLaw assessments.

Working with managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of the services and to share with consultant colleagues the medical contribution to the management of the service.

Complying with Health and Community Services agreed policies and procedures.

Working effectively with partner organisations who provide services to people with mental health problems and co-morbidity issues as appropriate.

Engagement in service development activities, audits, and monitoring.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of assessing and treating adult patients in community psychiatric settings
  • Experience managing clozapine and depot prescriptions.
  • Experience of work in UK hospital systems (or equivalent, not just shadowing)
  • Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD
  • A sound understanding of clinical governance

Desirable

  • Experience in inpatient psychiatry
  • On call experience covering adults and older people
  • ADHD/ ASD assessment experience
  • Experience using Mental Health Law in community settings.
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised basic medical degree
  • Full GMC registration
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT in adult psychiatry (or within six months at time of interview) or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Section 12 approval
  • Full GMC registration with license to practice

Desirable

  • MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD. PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • Section 12 approval

  • Ability to take a leadership role in a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care and staff morale
  • Ability to manage own time, workload and prioritise clinical work
