Job summary
The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a GeMS Senior Research Scientist - Transgenic Services to lead genetic modification, cryopreservation and colony management within the BRF GeMS team. This is a hands-on scientific leadership role focused on delivering high-quality services and developing innovative protocols.
You will oversee cryopreservation and rederivation programmes, provide technical leadership, manage projects, and contribute to collaborative research across Crick and partner services
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in a biological subject or related science/experience.
- Extensive experience in murine cryopreservation, ART, and genetic manipulation.
- Understanding of GM allele types, breeding strategies and limitations.
- Proven track record in planning/executing scientific services and projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform practical work in genetic modification, cryopreservation and rederivation of laboratory animals.
- Provide technical leadership and troubleshoot complex challenges across GeMS.
- Support service delivery, scheduling, resources and project timelines within GeMS.
- Ensure safety, SOP compliance, and accurate record-keeping and reporting.
