Gearbox Fitter
Up to £40,000 annual salary + overtime at 1.5, Bonus, permanent, Bristol BS2, 39 hours per week Monday to Friday, early finish Friday, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, Pension, sick scheme.

Our client is an established precision engineering company with a small but friendly team of engineers looking for a skilled industrial gearbox fitter, mechanical fitter.

The gearbox fitter, mechanical fitter role will see you carrying out duties such as:

  • Stripping and assessing industrial gearboxes and mechanical units like winches
  • Diagnosing issues, repairing and rebuilding units
  • Running the test bed on overhauled gearboxes and writing up results
  • Assembling mechanical systems and installing hydraulic pipework
  • Using workshop equipment such as milling/grinding machines and lathes to a basic level
  • Complete job route cards, basic report writing on repairs and parts for units


Experience required for the gearbox fitter, mechanical fitter

  • Knowledge of working on gearboxes and mechanical fitting would be ideal for this position.
  • This role would suit candidates who have served an engineering apprenticeship and have City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualifications, however candidates who are time served with knowledge of gearboxes and mechanical fitting would also be of interest
  • Candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work to deadlines accurately.
