Job summary

Moog Inc. in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Gear Grinder to operate CNC gear grinding machines and inspect parts to tight tolerances. The role supports aerospace manufacturing with a focus on quality and process improvement.

The ideal candidate has an engineering apprenticeship and 5+ years on gear cutting machines (Kapp/Gleason), with a strong ability to read drawings and use precision inspection tools. Day shift training leads to rotating shifts.

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an apprentice-trained, experienced Gear Grinder Machinist at our facility based in Wolverhampton. At Moog, we’re focused on the customer and for us, this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high-profile. Our Machinists work to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry

As a Gear Grinder, you will:

• Set up and operate multiple CNC gear grinding machines and griding equipment
• Perform first-off inspections and complete necessary quality documentation.
• Capability and competent in setting up and using machine tools
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and gear data.
• Proven experience in a machine shop environment
• Competent in setting up and using machine tools
• Confident in using precision measurement equipment.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll typically bring:

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing role, ideally within the aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques and appropriate tooling.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and process improvement techniques.
• Proficiency in using relevant inspection techniques/equipment to achieve drawing tolerances.
• Over 5 years experience on different gear cutting machines (Kapp/Gleason)

Additional Information:

This role follows a day shift pattern for the training period and in the future lead to 2 rotating shifts. Candidates must be self-certified and hold a quality stamp after the qualifying period.
