Job summary

HC-One Ltd. seeks an experienced Data Protection Officer to lead GDPR compliance across a large nationwide organisation. You will implement data protection policies, monitor GDPR adherence, advise leadership, and liaise with the ICO and individuals on data rights.

You will drive a culture of information assurance, deliver staff training, assess data protection impact, and oversee audits to ensure lawful, secure processing across all services and departments.

Qualifications

• A professional qualification covering information assurance and security.
• Expertise in national and European data protection laws including GDPR.
• Experience leading senior leadership to understand legal/technical implications.
• Proven track record in planning, design and evaluation of information assurance projects.
• Experience leading matrix teams and delivering training/awareness.
• Experience in financial management within constraints.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Ability to seek advice and report concerns when action is needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance with GDPR and data protection laws across the organisation.
• Educate leadership and staff on legal requirements and obligations.
• Monitor and report levels of organisational compliance; advise on DPIAs.
• Act as primary liaison with ICO and individuals for data protection issues.
• Develop and maintain data protection policies and promote culture of information assurance.
• Provide training and awareness to staff; oversee audits and improvements.
• Prepare reports for leadership and Head of Standards and Compliance on risk and actions.
